As one of the Co-founders of A Secret Safe Place for Newborns, it gives me immense pleasure to be part of an organization that helps to save the lives of the most precious and defenseless among us, newborns. To know that childless couples are being made families through adoption of these infants truly warms my heart. My own child was adopted as an infant. I’m eternally grateful to the young teen who chose life and made safe, mature choices for her baby.

I find it rewarding to play a small role in such an important cause, and to be around so many passionate and talented people working together for that cause.

I am passionate about Secret Safe Place of Newborns of Tennessee because this organization offers hope for so many. Hope for a newborn infant, the baby’s mother, and the baby’s new family. It is a gift of life! The baby is given a life that might not have been possible. A couple adopts and becomes a family. Finally, the mother knows that her baby will be loved and cherished. How could one not be passionate about an organization that helps so many? I am honored to work alongside the founding members who began with a grassroots campaign to make sure newborn babies have a fighting chance. It is exciting to see Secret Safe Place’s mission being delivered across the state, educating expecting mothers of their options.
Shawna McConnell - Co Founder - Community Volunteer
A Secret Safe Place for Newborns means more to me than I can easily explain. It is not only a passion and commitment in my life, but it has also been a true calling. I feel so blessed and privileged to be part of the founding, development, and progression of such an important, life-saving organization.
From collaborating with motivated community and state leaders in the establishment of the Safe Haven law, to working side-by-side with our dedicated director, board members, and volunteers over the past 15+ years, A Secret Safe Place has been an incredibly worthwhile and gratifying experience, for which I could not be more thankful. To think that 85 precious lives (so far) have been saved through the efforts of this group is above and beyond what we could have imagined. We continually celebrate the babies whose lives have been saved, the mothers who made the choice to surrender, and the continuing message of hope and a last chance offered by A Secret Safe Place for Newborns.
Senator Doug Overbey - Co Founder - Robertson Overbey
